Ketogenic Diet and Epilepsy (With Food Demonstration!)

This lecture will explore dietary therapy for the treatment of epilepsy. We will discuss the process of initiation and therapy, similarities and differences between the various diets, side effects, and examples of ketogenic foods. We will end with a demo of a keto approved snack. The diet therapy is not limited to children; adult patients are also very successful with controlling seizures on these diets.

About the presenter: GEORGIA BURLISON, MS, RD, CDN is a certified dietitian dedicated to pediatric and adult epilepsy patients at the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NYU Langone Health. Georgia received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at George Washington University and a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics at New York University. She completed the New York-Presbyterian Dietetic Internship and a Fellowship in Pediatric Nutrition at New York Presbyterian’s Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. Georgia’s previous work experience includes caring for pediatric patients in an acute care setting at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital as well pediatric patients at the Center for Advanced Digestive Care at NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center. In her free time, Georgia likes to cook, exercise, and spend time with her husband and two daughters.
